Why we support the Surrey Food Bank...

  1. In 2016 they provided over 54,838 hampers to families living in Surrey and North Delta.

  2. They also provide food support for a number of recovery houses, safe houses, shelters, youth centres, soup kitchens, and specialty food banks in the local communities.

  3. 41% of their clients are children and babies.

  4. People who come to the Surrey Food Bank must register to become a client and must meet low income requirements in order to qualify to register.

  5. Tiny Bundles is a Surrey Food Bank program specifically designed for pregnant moms and families with babies aged newborn to one year. Tiny Bundles families receive food every week instead of every two weeks. They are also supplied with fresh eggs and milk while pregnant or nursing. Additional fresh vegetables and other nutritional items are supplied when available.

  6. The SFB offers additional food items for toddlers between their first and second birthdays.

  7. The SFB offers additional food items for children ages two to five. This program is designed to ensure that children receive their full nutrition requirements during their formative years as they transition from toddler to school age.

  8. Seniors ages 65 plus have a dedicated distribution time to collect their food in a respectful and non-rushed environment. The SFB offers a suitable choice of nutritious foods such as high protein and low sodium options to encourage the best possible nutrition.

  9. Hamper To Your Home was designed for clients with mobility issues. Mobility issues include high-risk pregnancy, parents who are postpartum, C-Section patients, people with terminal or debilitating conditions, those who are elderly and frail, and those who are recovering from surgery or an accident.

EPIC BBQ has raised over $28,000 for the Surrey Food Bank.
